"Aladdin" is a play written by Adam Oehlenschläger, a Danish poet and playwright, in 1825. The play is based on the famous Middle Eastern folk tale "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp," which is included in the collection "One Thousand and One Nights" (also known as "Arabian Nights"). Oehlenschläger's version of the story adds his own romantic and poetic touch, making it a classic in Danish literature.

The play begins with Mustapha, a poor tailor who struggles to make ends meet and wishes for a better life for his son, Aladdin. One day, a mysterious magician named Jakoob appears in the city and claims to be Aladdin's long-lost uncle. He offers to take Aladdin under his wing and make him rich beyond imagination. Mustapha, unaware of the magician's true intentions, gladly agrees to let Aladdin go with him.
